The awarding of prizes to the students who participated in the scholarship class of the education centre and scored more than 100 marks in the scholarship examination held in 2022 took place on the 18th of February at the Education Centre auditorium.
The students were awarded a school bag containing stationary and exercise books. Special gift vouchers were also awarded to students who exceeded the cut-off marks in the district. Asinsa Devindu Ranasinghe, a student who came to the education centre’s grade 5 scholarship class, was praised as he achieved the highest marks in the centre.
Mrs. Lovina Charles, her husband Mr. Charles and a group of well-wishers from Colombo participated in this event. Mrs. Charles, who addressed the ceremony, expressed her happiness over the achievements of the children. Ms. Dinusha Sandamali Bandara, who conducts the scholarship classes at the Mahawilachchiya Education Centre, addressed the assembly and praised these initiatives. There was also a thank you speech on behalf of the parents of the prize winners.
Scholarship tuition for Grade 5 will continue next year and will be a key part of our Education Centre to encourage talented students in the village.
